FOUNDER’S NOTE
“For me, every design begins as a quiet sketch — a thought, a memory, or something I’ve observed in the world around me. I have always loved the moment when a simple sketch becomes something you can wear. House of Mango Tree is where those sketches slowly grow into fabric and become part of everyday life.” I wanted to build a space where clothing feels personal again. Where, what you wear carries a story — of process, of patience, and of people.

UNDER THE MANGO TREE
This isn’t just a brand; it’s a piece of my story- House of Mango Tree was born in the very home I grew up in, under the shade of a mango tree that has stood here for over a hundred years. I’m Sushmitha Ilango, an artist and a fashion technocrat, with a Master’s in Fashion and Textiles. My journey has taken me from sketchbooks to studios in the UK, where I worked as a freelance textile designer creating fabric prints. But no matter where I went, I found myself coming back to one thing, the joy of creating something by hand, from the very beginning. This is my home. This is my work. This is my way of sharing it with you.

Every piece you see here starts as a sketch.What flows through my mind first finds its way onto paper; playful lines, thoughtful motifs, and unique compositions.
I sketch each print by hand, letting inspiration come from everyday moments, nature, and memory.
These sketches are then carefully translated into fabrics through digital printing, and finally brought to life as garments; thoughtfully made in small batches. Nothing here is rushed. Nothing is mass-produced.
